There are a number of different scenarios that may have taken place over the course of the hand by the time it comes to the post-flop play. How you act during this crucial time period of a poker 99 game can really make or break your overall poker strategy. While it is not possible to win every single hand, you can certainly improve your chances by having an effective strategy developed beforehand.
Flop Analysis
The very first thing that you will do after the flop before any additional plays are made is to take a quick look at how things currently stand on the table. Look and see how the additional cards that have now been flipped over on the table will affect your hand and your opponent’s hands. At this point, every player on the table will be aware of five out of the seven total cards that make up the final hands.
You will need to ask yourself how exactly the flop affected your hand. Are you in a stronger position now than you were before the flop was dealt or are you in a weaker position?
If you believe that the flop has weakened your hand then the next question should obviously follow. Has the flop improved the positions of any of your opponents? While you are playing poker, you need to keep a keen awareness of exactly where your opponent standing. You will not be able to see all of their cards, but you can see all of their actions. Watch closely and see if their bedding behavior changes after the flop. If you notice any obvious changes is very likely that the flop has affected their potential outcomes.
Next, you are going to want to see if there are any draws on the table after the flop. There are two types of draws to keep an eye out for. There is the flush draw and then there is also the straight draw. A flush draw is whenever there are three cards of the same suit on the flop. This means that an opponent or yourself to already have a flush. If there is a good chance of there being a straight draw you will be able to tell by looking at the cards on the table.
Once you have asked all of these questions you can ask the most important question of all. Are you in the lead? The way that you act after the flop will be determined largely by whether you are in the lead or if you are trailing the table. If you are in the lead and you believe that your opponents have a week and this is a great spot to force them to either fold or go all in.
