The word "cookie" covers a family of small pieces of data a website can leave in your browser. Many sites use dozens of them to measure visits, show adverts or recognise you on other sites. Arizona Vignettes uses almost none, and this page explains the one exception in full.
The single entry we store
When you press a button on our cookie banner, your browser keeps a note of the choice so the banner stays out of your way afterwards. Strictly speaking, this note is not a cookie at all but an item in your browser's local storage — a close relative that, unlike a cookie, is never sent back to the server with each page request.
| What | Details |
|---|---|
| Purpose | Remembers that you have already answered the banner |
| Contents | A single value meaning "accepted" or "declined" |
| Where it lives | Only in your own browser, on your own device |
| Shared with | No one, including us |
| Lifetime | Until you clear your browser's site data |
Choosing "decline" has no effect on what you can read. Every article and page works the same either way.
What we do not use
- No analytics cookies counting visits or tracing your route through the site.
- No advertising cookies, because there are no adverts.
- No social media cookies or "like" buttons.
- No cookies that recognise you on other websites.
Removing the stored choice
If you want the banner back, or simply want a clean slate, clear the stored data for this site:
- In your browser's settings, look for the part dealing with privacy, cookies or stored site data.
- Search for the site's name, or choose the option to clear data for all sites.
- Delete the stored data and reload any page here; the banner will appear again.
Browsing in a private or incognito window has a similar effect, because local storage there is wiped when the window closes.
One more word on the banner
The banner also reminds visitors that the site is for adults. That reminder is part of how we approach the subject, not a legal formality. If you want to know more about playing within sensible limits, see Gambling Responsibly.
More about how we treat personal data is on our Privacy & Data page. Any questions can go to the address on our contact page.
