07 Dec Different types of Hold’Em Poker Games
Hold’em is the most popular form of poker. The game has multiple variations, some of which you might not be aware of. In this article, we will briefly touch upon some variants of Hold’em poker.
Firstly, let’s look at different types of Hold’em based on betting formats. There are three kinds.
Limit Texas Hold’em
In the limit Hold’em, the bet size is pre-determined by game rules. All players agree on the bet size before they enter the game. Since there are a total of four betting rounds in Texas Hold’em, the size of the bets in the first two rounds is half the size of the bets in the latter two rounds.
For instance, if you are playing a $4/$8 Limit Hold’em, you can make bets in $4 increments. In the turn and river round, you can bet in $8 increments.
Pot Limit Texas Hold’em.
In this variation, the betting is determined by the limit of the pot. You can only call a bet or raise the pot size. For instance, if the pot is $15, you can raise the bet by $15, which is the pot size or just call a bet which will be a smaller amount.
No Limit Texas Hold’em
There is no limit to the size of the bet or raise except for the chips in the 홀덤 poker. It implies that you can only raise the bet by the amount of money available on the table before you and not from your wallet.
For instance, if the pot has $15 in it and you have chips available worth $50, you can raise the size of the bet to $50 by declaring that you are all in. if you do not want to go all in, you can raise an increment, which is the difference between the money and the number of chips in front of you.
In addition to the three betting format-based discussed above, Hold’em has other variants too. Some do not consider these as Texas Hold’em, but there is a difference of opinion. Let’s have a look.
Pineapple Hold’em
The Pineapple Hold’em is similar to Texas Hold’em; however, the player gets three hole cards instead of two in Texas Hold’em. It has three variants.
- In the standard format, the players discard one of the three-hole cards before betting begins.
- In the Crazy Pineapple game, the holder has the option to hold on to the three cards till the first two betting rounds are over.
- In the Lazy Pineapple format, the player doesn’t have to choose which card to discount till the 4th betting round is over. The player keeps all the cards till they know which the final community card is, and then they can choose which card they don’t want and discard it.
Omaha Hold’em
Omaha Hold’em is also similar to Pineapple and Texas Hold’em. The point of difference is that in this format, the players are dealt out four hole cards.
Another differing point is that the players do not have to discard any of the hole cards, but their final hand should have two hole cards and three community cards. Although not as popular as Texas, Omaha Hold’em is also played in casinos.
In addition to these, there are other variations, including the Ultimate Texas Hold’em, Speed Hold’em, etc.
